Kilkenny hurlers prepare for the Leinster Final

Two Kilkenny players have received suspensions after the GAA's Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC) reviewed last Sunday’s Allianz Hurling League final against Dublin, which left the Cats in an unusual position — licking their wounds.

To say I am lost for words after Kilkenny’s dismal display last Sunday is putting it very mildly. The defeat is one thing but the manner of it is of more concern. The Old Leighlin men are very passionate about their hurling, they went to war last Sunday without their veteran centre back and former county and Leinster star, Johnny Nevin, who was away in Australia on over 40s duty. Nevin may be getting on, but by all accounts he still has the drive and passion to compete at the highest level. Comer's cause was helped in the first half by goals from Davy Buggy and Jimmy Byrne, they had to withstand a lot of pressure in the second half before coming out on top. Their next hurdle is Blackwater of Wexford.
